What the Salesforce Braze acquisition means for your lifecycle program
On October 20, 2026, Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in cash. We do not expect it to change a single Canvas in your workspace this quarter. This post covers what has been confirmed and what to check in your own setup.
What the deal confirms
Salesforce will pay $47.50 per Braze share in cash, a deal value of about $5.66 billion, according to its announcement filed with the SEC. Braze serves about 2,770 customers, including Canva and Instacart. The price sits about 58% above Braze's October 19 close of $30.04, per CMSWire.
Salesforce expects the deal to close in its fiscal 2028, which begins February 1, 2027, after Braze shareholder approval and regulatory clearances, as TechRepublic reports. Salesforce says Braze will strengthen Marketing Cloud's real-time, cross-channel personalization for high-volume B2C brands, and that Braze will become Marketing Cloud's primary home within Customer 360.
What stays the same for now
Braze told customers in communications filed with the SEC that current contracts remain unchanged and that renewals follow normal processes. Account contacts, security certifications and hosting are unaffected, and integrations with third-party CRM and data platforms remain supported. Braze has also said customer information will continue to be processed under existing contractual terms and applicable law after closing.
Until the deal closes, Braze and Salesforce operate as separate companies with separate contracts and roadmaps. Braze CEO Bill Magnuson has said the company will keep building under the Braze name and investing in its community of customers and partners. Our read is that your SDK and API calls will continue to work as they do today.
Where Braze and Marketing Cloud overlap
Salesforce already owns an engagement platform, and CMSWire notes that earlier acquisitions such as ExactTarget and Datorama were folded into Marketing Cloud. It describes that history as a clue about direction.
Several answers are still missing. Salesforce has not said how pricing or packaging will change, whether new Braze-powered features will require additional Salesforce products, or how Braze will sit next to Marketing Cloud's existing email, mobile and journey tools. No combined roadmap has been published, and teams that run Braze without Salesforce CRM will want evidence that the open, composable approach both companies describe holds after integration.
We treat any confident prediction on these points with suspicion, and we build programs that work regardless of how the product structure settles.
What we would check this quarter
Your renewal date and terms. A contract that renews before the expected close is negotiated with an independent Braze, which makes term length and change-of-control language worth raising with your legal team.
Your documentation. A current inventory of your live Canvases, their entry criteria and the data they depend on is the same document you would need in order to integrate with Marketing Cloud, renegotiate, or migrate. Most teams we audit cannot produce one in under a day.
Your data. Streaming Braze Currents engagement events into a warehouse you own keeps your behavioral history somewhere you control. Our guide to how CDPs, ESPs and data tools integrate with Snowflake covers the mechanics, and mapping that data layer is a core step in any Braze implementation or migration.
If you run a different platform
Teams on other ESPs will likely hear from vendors who frame the deal as a reason to stay or to switch. Your program's own results on its current platform are the better basis for deciding whether to migrate.
Teams on Marketing Cloud may eventually see Braze's real-time capabilities arrive in their stack, though CMSWire reports the overlap with existing tools is unresolved. Campaigns planned this year rest on features that have already shipped.
The bottom line
The acquisition changes no workspace today, and the period before close is long enough to document how your program works and move your engagement data into a warehouse you own. If you would like a second set of eyes on your Braze or Marketing Cloud setup, our lifecycle marketing team is happy to take a look.
